Since the conclusion of 2025, Gladbach has been gradually descending toward the relegation zone, and they currently find themselves embroiled once again in a battle to avoid dropping down a division.

Despite their recent struggles, head coach Eugen Polanski’s position is not under immediate threat. Even if the team suffers a loss against Freiburg this weekend, Polanski will not be dismissed—at least for the time being.

Polanski took charge of Gladbach in September, initially stepping in as an interim coach after the dismissal of Gerardo Seoane. Following a promising start, during which his side went five games unbeaten, the team has since managed only one victory in their last nine matches, leaving them just three points above the relegation zone.
