omidbasir- During the recent match between Sevilla and Deportivo Alavés, in addition to Juanlu Sánchez and Matías Almeyda, Joan Jordán was also shown a red card. In stoppage time, Yusi advanced several meters during a throw-in in favor of the Vitoria side, a situation quickly protested by the Catalan player, who was standing outside the Sevilla bench. Referee Iosu Galech penalized this reaction with another red card, stating in the match report that Jordán had “left the technical area running towards assistant referee number 1, protesting ostentatiously with his arms raised.”

Today, the Committee of Discipline of the Royal Spanish Football Federation announced that Jordán will serve a two-match suspension for protesting to the referee, assistant referee, or fourth official, along with applicable fines under Article 52 CD (Article 127). Unless Sevilla successfully contests this ruling, the midfielder will miss the next two league matches, in which his team will face Getafe and Betis.

Since returning from his loan spell at Alavés, Jordán has played five matches this season for Sevilla, contributing more in the Copa del Rey than in LaLiga, where he has only logged 22 minutes. Nevertheless, in his most recent appearance on the pitch, during the victory against Athletic, he even wore the captain’s armband, being the player with the longest tenure in the first team after Nemanja Gudelj.
