Sevilla Faces Injury Setback Ahead of Osasuna MatchSevilla Faces Injury Setback Ahead of Osasuna Match

Sevilla has encountered unfortunate news ahead of their match against Osasuna. César Azpilicueta, a key figure in this matchup due to both emotional and sporting reasons, will miss the game due to a last-minute calf injury. The central defender experienced discomfort towards the end of yesterday’s training session and, despite having joined his teammates for the pre-match preparations, he will ultimately be sidelined.

In light of Azpilicueta’s absence, Coach Matías Almeyda addressed the situation by indicating that the team will adapt accordingly. “There are teammates who are ready to step in. César experienced this injury at the end of training, which prompted us to make adjustments. However, I don’t believe in luck. We are fortunate to have this opportunity. The opposing side also aims to win. This is life; it is about merit, and those who work harder will reap the rewards,” Almeyda stated in an official club announcement.

To compensate for the loss of Azpilicueta, Almeyda has opted to modify the team’s formation, deploying a defensive line of three central defenders: Carmona, Nianzou, and Marcao. Ahead of them, a quartet will include Juanlu on the right flank, Suazo on the left, with Mendy and Sow anchoring the midfield. The forward line will consist of Vargas, Peque, and Akor Adams.
