Ander Barrenetxea s Return to Training After Injury SetbackAnder Barrenetxea s Return to Training After Injury Setback

omidbasir- The return of Ander Barrenetxea, after nearly a month away from the pitch due to a recent muscle issue, was the highlight of the training session held by Real Sociedad this Thursday at Zubieta. Luka Sucic, on the other hand, was absent once again and will miss the upcoming match against Oviedo. There is uncertainty regarding Barrenetxea’s readiness to rejoin the squad for selection, as the coach, Pellegrino Matarazzo, has only two training sessions to assess him before the match.

Barrenetxea was substituted at halftime during the game against Celta on January 25, after sustaining a blow to the same area of his thigh that had previously sidelined him for three weeks following a November derby. The player has been unable to train with his teammates for the duration of this injury until today.

Now that he has resumed training, the question remains whether two training sessions will suffice to reinstate him in the squad for Saturday’s match against Oviedo, or if it is still too soon for his return, leading to a cautious approach. The final list of players for the match will be revealed tomorrow around 1:30 PM, clarifying this uncertainty.

Expectations were higher for Sucic to return to the field at Zubieta, based on Matarazzo’s predictions from the previous week. However, the Croatian has again been absent, suggesting he will also miss the upcoming fixture against Oviedo, similar to his absences in recent matches against Athletic Bilbao in the Copa and Real Madrid in La Liga.
