omidbasir- Ange Postecoglou has declared that he would not entertain a return to managing Celtic, despite having had an “amazing experience” during his tenure in Glasgow.

The Australian manager achieved remarkable success during his two-year spell at the club, lifting five trophies and winning the hearts of fans with his dynamic, attacking style of play before departing for Tottenham Hotspur in 2023.

Since his dismissal from Nottingham Forest in October, Postecoglou has been connected to a potential return to Celtic as the Premiership champions seek a new permanent manager.

In a recent interview with The Overlap, the 60-year-old explained that returning to a previous role is not in his nature. “I don’t go back,” he stated. “I don’t think that’s been my career.”

Reflecting on his time at Celtic, Postecoglou spoke fondly about the passion of the fans. “I loved Celtic. What a football club. If I were younger, I might have stayed for three or four more years. I believe I could have made progress with them in Europe. However, at that time, it took me a long time to reach this point, and the opportunity to join Tottenham was too significant to pass up.”

He reiterated his stance on returning to past roles: “Whatever the next step is, I think it will be something new, something where I can make an impact and win titles. My feelings for Celtic remain unchanged; it was a tremendous experience. Being part of such a passionate community for two years, especially with the success we achieved, was incredible.”

Postecoglou also reflected on the city rivalry with Rangers, recalling his first season when Celtic won the Premiership and League Cup. “Nobody is going to discuss rivalry with me; I lived and breathed it there. The ideal weekend in Scotland is when Celtic wins and Rangers loses. If both teams win, it’s not a good weekend.”

He reminisced about the double victory in his inaugural year at Celtic, noting the fan response when Rangers lost in the Europa League final. “I received more texts the night they lost in the Europa League final than on the night we won the league. The excitement among the fans was palpable.”
