omidbasir- In a surprising twist in the world of soccer kits, Bundesliga club RB Leipzig and LaLiga side Real Betis have taken bold steps to redefine jersey design with two highly unusual innovations that will debut this weekend.

RB Leipzig’s latest fourth alternate kit is a striking garment that is set to literally outshine its rivals. This kit features a black base adorned with a blue graphic overlay, and, remarkably, it glows in the dark. The logos and sponsorships are printed using a UV-sensitive material that illuminates in a turquoise hue under low light conditions, creating a unique visual experience reminiscent of the ‘Tron’ universe. While glow-in-the-dark elements have previously appeared in soccer kits—such as Napoli’s Halloween jersey—the collaboration between Leipzig and Puma elevates this concept to a new level, with the entire kit showcasing luminescent details, including player names and numbers.

However, due to Bundesliga regulations, Leipzig will have to wear a modified version of the kit that adheres to strict guidelines prohibiting reflective materials or any elements that change appearance based on external factors during gameplay. Fans, however, can still enjoy the full glow-in-the-dark experience with their replica shirts, perfect for standing out in any crowd.

On the other hand, Real Betis, in collaboration with manufacturer Hummel, has unveiled a groundbreaking fourth-alternate outfield kit and a fifth-alternate goalkeeper jersey made from sustainable materials, specifically incorporating elements of oranges—an iconic symbol of their home city, Seville. In a move aimed at reducing plastic use, approximately 16% of the fabric fibers come from orange peel, showcasing the club’s commitment to environmental responsibility.

The design features a texture reminiscent of the surface of an orange, with vibrant orange accents highlighting Betis’ traditional green stripes on the outfield jersey and blue and black bands on the goalkeeper’s shirt. Additionally, the names and numbers on the kits are applied using a chemical-free printing process, complemented by an innovative scratch-and-sniff feature that releases the delightful fragrance of orange blossom flowers.

Betis is set to debut this unique kit in their upcoming home match against Rayo Vallecano, leaving fans curious about whether the shirts will retain their refreshing scent by the end of the match.
