Jérémy Doku has stated that Manchester City is not fixated on Arsenal’s form, even after announcing their presence in the Premier League title race with a victory over Liverpool. He asserted that few teams would be able to match Pep Guardiola’s side if they maintain their peak performance. City achieved a resounding 3-0 victory against Liverpool at the Etihad Stadium on Sunday, with Doku playing a pivotal role in the match. Guardiola remarked that the result demonstrated City’s readiness to compete for the title. While Doku acknowledged Arsenal’s current lead of four points, he believes they will struggle to keep pace if City continues to perform as they did against Liverpool. “We’re just looking at ourselves,” Doku remarked, highlighting the team’s focus on self-improvement. “We have been developing and know that we can still enhance our game. We are pleased with our performance against Liverpool, but it is essential to improve in every match. We’re not overly concerned about Arsenal or what other teams are doing because, ultimately, it depends only on us. If we play well, it is challenging to match us.” Doku is having an exceptional season with City since his arrival from Rennes in 2023. The 23-year-old has already scored three goals, including a remarkable strike against Liverpool, which is just five shy of his career-best tally of eight goals in a season. Despite being on track to surpass that mark, the Belgium international insists he is not preoccupied with statistics. “I don’t focus on that because I believe goals come naturally,” Doku explained. “I strive to improve but I’m not the type to evaluate my performance solely based on goals or assists after a game. A poor performance, to me, is defined by not being involved, being ineffective, or losing possession frequently. If I hadn’t scored today, I wouldn’t consider it a bad game. I would still categorize it as a good performance. That’s my perspective and how I intend to approach each match.” Post navigation Messi’s Journey: From Barcelona to Inter Miami and Beyond Frank de Boer: From Managerial Triumphs to Embracing a Balanced Life
