Sevilla FC entered the October international break in a respectable sixth place, accumulating 13 points, the same total as Atlético de Madrid, Elche, and Athletic Club. A victory against Osasuna, secured by a penalty from Rubén Vargas, ensured the team did not head into the November hiatus without a win, following losses to Mallorca, Real Sociedad, and Atlético de Madrid. Currently, they stand ninth in the league with 16 points, seven points clear of the relegation zone and just two points behind the sixth-placed team, Espanyol, who they will face next in LaLiga.

The previous international break proved detrimental for the Sevilla squad. A resounding 4-1 victory over Barcelona had sparked hope among fans that this would mark a turning point for the team. However, the subsequent matches did not reflect that optimism. Nevertheless, under Almeyda’s management, Sevilla has secured one additional point compared to the previous season under García Pimienta after twelve matches. With five LaLiga fixtures remaining before the year concludes, the team aims to make a strong statement leading into 2026.

Sevilla will resume domestic competition on Monday, November 24, with an away match against Espanyol, followed by a derby clash against Betis on November 30, which carries more weight than just three points. December will present further challenges with two tough away games against Valencia and Real Madrid, in addition to a home match against Oviedo. Training sessions will continue from today until Saturday, with a rest day on Sunday. However, Almeyda faces the challenge of preparing without eight international players currently committed to their national teams, adding to the team’s concerns.

The players away on international duty include Rubén Vargas and Djibril Sow (Switzerland), as well as Nigerian duo Akor Adams and Chidera Ejuke, Orjan Nyland (Norway), Odysseas Vlachodimos (Greece), Gudelj (Serbia), and Gabriel Suazo (Chile). Almeyda is also closely monitoring the injury situation, with key players Alexis Sánchez and Azpilicueta working diligently towards a swift recovery, along with Isaac and Cardoso. The team’s immediate goal is to reach 42 points as soon as possible.
