Real Sociedad’s impressive performance last season has led to several of its stars moving to other teams. Rubén Le Normand has joined Atlético Madrid, Mikel Merino is on the verge of transferring to Arsenal, and Martín Zubimendi is expected to move to Liverpool.

Takefusa Kubo, the Japanese star of Real Sociedad, also received a significant offer but has chosen to turn it down. In an interview with France Football, Kubo revealed that he rejected a four-year contract offer from a Saudi Arabian club worth €160 million (€40 million annual salary) because he wants to remain in European football. Kubo stated, “The most important thing for me since childhood has been to play with and against the best. If, in the future, the Saudi Arabian league becomes the best league in the world, I will consider moving there. However, for now, it is only the economic appeal of the league that is being discussed.”

Kubo’s release clause is €60 million, but Real Sociedad is not inclined to sell him, especially given the departures of several key players. The club is relying on the creative Japanese player for the upcoming season.
