Dayot Upamecano Discusses Future Amid Contract NegotiationsDayot Upamecano Discusses Future Amid Contract Negotiations

In an interview with L’Équipe, referenced by Sky Germany, Bayern Munich and French international defender Dayot Upamecano has shared insights regarding his future as his contract approaches expiration this summer.

“My agent is managing that situation,” Upamecano stated. “We will make the right decision. My primary focus is on this season and achieving my goals with both the club and the national team.”

When questioned about interest from other clubs, the Frenchman remarked, “I am under contract with Bayern and feel honored when other clubs express interest in me. I have always maintained that I am comfortable at Bayern, where I have a great coach and supportive teammates.”

Negotiations between Bayern and Upamecano have been ongoing for some time, and reports last month indicated a potential breakthrough. One proposed option includes a four-year contract extension featuring a release clause that would take effect after two seasons, which would be further reduced after a third season.

In addition to Real Madrid, both Liverpool and Chelsea have previously expressed interest in signing Upamecano. Given that he already had a release clause, the implications of his expiring contract allow other clubs to initiate discussions with him in January, as he will have only six months remaining on his deal.
