José María del Nido Carrasco, the president of Sevilla FC, addressed the media following the latest edition of the Blázquez and Ruesga Bono 2025 awards held at the Sánchez-Pizjuán Stadium, an event that honors the contributions of journalists. He expressed, “After our victory against Barcelona, it felt like we touched the sky, but we subsequently lost three consecutive matches. That win was rejuvenating for us. We managed to secure victory before the break, which has restored our position to one of calm and confidence.”

He continued, “In a league where every three points matter, winning two or three matches can propel you up the standings, while losing can bring you down. Currently, we sit in ninth place, closer to the top than the bottom, with our team solidified by the arrivals of Antonio Cordón and Matías Almeyda. The squad is performing well, although integrating all the new players is a challenge.”

On the subject of the upcoming transfer market, he noted, “We are already preparing for the winter transfer window and even looking ahead to next summer. Right now, we have 25 players under contract, including the return of Gattoni. Some will need to leave, and we also need to reduce our wage bill, but Sevilla’s intention is to strengthen the team, undoubtedly.”

Regarding his future as president, he stated, “I was elected last year for a six-year term. While there has been considerable speculation in the press about the potential sale of the majority shareholders, it’s important to note that these shareholders have received interest in their shares for many years. Personally, I hold a small number of shares, around one hundred, and my focus remains on managing Sevilla. As I adhere to the philosophy of taking it one game at a time, I tackle each day as it comes. Thus, inquiries about ownership changes are not within my purview.”

When asked about the upcoming derby, he replied, “We still have the match against Espanyol to consider, but relations with Betis are normal on all fronts. We will undoubtedly share meals, and they will visit our box; our interactions are fluid, and I anticipate that the derby will proceed without any issues.”
