Eloy Nebreda, the youth player from Real Sociedad, has realized his dream of debuting for the Cuba national team. At just 18 years and four months old, he took to the field in the 67th minute of the match against Saint Lucia last night, celebrating a resounding 3-0 victory on the pitch.

Born in San Sebastián to a Cuban mother, Nebreda’s unique background allowed him to represent Cuba, a story we recently shared in MARCA. Reports highlighted his remarkable skill, particularly with his left foot, as he made several impressive plays starting from the right wing. One notable moment came when he delivered a well-placed pass that set a teammate one-on-one with the opposing goalkeeper, though the opportunity was squandered due to a poor final touch.

Currently playing for Real Sociedad’s third team in the Tercera RFEF, Nebreda is set for another chance to gain more experience in an upcoming friendly against Martinique this Saturday. Meanwhile, his teammates from the third team will face Pasaia in a derby match, which he will miss due to his commitment to representing Cuba at the senior level.

Interestingly, Nebreda follows in the footsteps of another Zubieta-trained footballer, Jorge Aguirre. Aguirre, who progressed through various youth teams and even reached Sanse, has been part of Cuba’s national team for several months, also due to his Cuban heritage.
