Juan Iglesias Named Getafe Player of the Month for OctoberJuan Iglesias Named Getafe Player of the Month for October

This week, Juan Iglesias was honored as Getafe’s Player of the Month for October. The Valladolid native’s outstanding start to the season was recognized by the fans, who voted for the versatile midfielder over other nominees.

Iglesias’s exceptional performance has not gone unnoticed by either the supporters or his coach. Bordalás has expressed his admiration for the 21-year-old on multiple occasions during press conferences, describing him as “a great team player, an honest guy who does not complain about anything,” and has also stated that he holds him in “enormous affection.”

Bordalás was the one who, over five years ago, provided Iglesias with the opportunity to transition from Getafe ‘B’ to the first team. He had already demonstrated his ability to play in various positions while with the reserve squad, where he was seen alongside Sabit—another talent from La Base who made their debut that season—performing in central defense.

However, Iglesias has not only played as a full-back or center-back this season. Within the tactical framework employed by Bordalás, the player has also experienced a role as a wing-back in a five-man defense, as well as taking on a more advanced position in midfield alongside Kiko Femenía and even as a winger when the formation has shifted to three forwards.

“I work hard to create good moments and to convince the coach. The important thing is to be part of the starting eleven every weekend and continue contributing,” Iglesias stated in a press conference. “I adapt well to any position the coach asks me to play. He can count on me wherever he feels it’s necessary. I feel comfortable and adapted a long time ago. It’s a matter of mentality.”

The former Logroñés player’s contract expires at the end of this season, but Iglesias expressed his desire to continue with the club, stating in front of the media that his intention is “to stay in Getafe.”

“This is my home. I hope to be here for a long time and achieve something beautiful with the club. We’ll see how everything ends up,” he affirmed.
