Max Huiberts announced on Wednesday that he will be stepping down from his position at AZ at the end of this season, concluding an impressive eleven-year tenure. While there were immediate links to Ajax, recent reports from De Telegraaf indicate that he will not be making that move.

“I feel that it is time to pass the baton this summer after eleven wonderful yet intense seasons,” Huiberts stated. Ajax is currently seeking a successor for Alex Kroes. However, sources suggest that Huiberts will categorically not be joining Ajax, as he intends to focus on an international opportunity. Additionally, a transition to Feyenoord is also off the table, as their General Director, Dennis te Kloese, is still balancing responsibilities with the role of Technical Director.
