Kylian Mbappé has officially withdrawn from the France national team and is returning to Madrid for scans on his injured ankle, as announced by the French Football Federation on Friday.

The 26-year-old Real Madrid forward recently scored two goals against Ukraine in Paris, securing a place for the 2018 World Cup winners in the upcoming 2026 edition. His impressive performance brought his career goal tally to 400; however, he will miss Les Bleus’ next match scheduled against Azerbaijan on Sunday.

The decision to send Mbappé home was made collectively by head coach Didier Deschamps and the medical staff at Real Madrid, citing persistent swelling and pain in his ankle, which has been an ongoing issue for some time.

Later on Friday, he is expected to undergo scans in Madrid. Sources have indicated to ESPN that there are currently no serious concerns regarding the injury.

In related news, fellow Real Madrid midfielder Eduardo Camavinga has also left the French training camp due to a minor muscle injury.

Real Madrid is set to face Elche on Sunday, November 23, before traveling to Athens for a Champions League match against Olympiacos on November 26.
