Pulisic Supports Reyna Amid Injury ChallengesPulisic Supports Reyna Amid Injury Challenges

In a recent interview, Christian Pulisic shared insights on his relationship with Gio Reyna, noting that while their communication is infrequent, they have cultivated a positive dynamic through their experiences with the national team.

Pulisic expressed empathy for Reyna, who has faced numerous challenges, particularly injuries that have hindered his progression both at the club and international levels. “We don’t talk a lot,” Pulisic remarked during his conversation with CBS Sports Golazo, “but we have a good relationship. He has had a really tough time, often unfairly. I feel for him; it’s not easy what we go through. Some of the injuries he’s faced are incredibly challenging. Seeing him on the national team roster is really exciting for him.”

Regarding their collaboration on the national team, Pulisic stated, “When I have him on the field, I always feel more relaxed. He is an exceptionally talented player, and I believe many people recognize that.”

Pulisic emphasized that Reyna has experienced a streak of misfortune and unrealistic expectations since his initial success. He called for patience from fans as Reyna works to regain his form and rhythm. “I just tell him to stay patient. He has gone through a tough time, and while it’s understandable for people to expect immediate results, it’s not that simple. There are various factors he must navigate. I believe it’s been unfair, but I am confident he will bounce back, and soon people will see his true potential.”

After joining Borussia Mönchengladbach this summer, Reyna has struggled to find consistent playing time, having made only six Bundesliga appearances while dealing with ongoing fitness issues.

Reyna has been selected for the upcoming November international break with the USMNT and may earn his first cap since March 2025 when the team faces Paraguay this Saturday.
