Interestingly, these discussions took place in Sir Jim Ratcliffe’s garage, as the Red Devils were considering potential successors to Erik ten Hag, ultimately delaying the decision until six months later. That same day, Frank traveled across London to meet with Chelsea regarding a separate vacancy, though the club eventually appointed Enzo Maresca instead.

At the time, Frank, then the manager of Brentford, had established himself as a success story in the Premier League, having led the Bees to promotion and solidified their presence as a mid-table team. His accomplishments made him a candidate for both clubs as they sought to implement significant rebuilds. Despite mutual admiration for his work, neither interview led to an immediate job offer.

Frank recounted that his meeting with Ratcliffe occurred while Manchester United’s squad was en route to London for the FA Cup final, a match they later won 2-1 against Manchester City.
