Brazil has announced that Arsenal defender Gabriel Magalhães will not be part of the squad for their upcoming match against Tunisia due to an adductor injury.

The centre-back left the field shortly before the hour mark during Brazil’s friendly against Senegal on Saturday.

In a statement, the Brazil Football Confederation confirmed, “Arsenal player Gabriel Magalhães was re-evaluated this Sunday, and imaging tests revealed a muscle injury in his right thigh. Therefore, the player will not travel with the team to the match against Tunisia in Lille. No replacement will be called up.”

This injury represents a significant setback for Arsenal, whose title aspirations this season have heavily relied on Gabriel’s strong defensive performances.

He has been a crucial element in a defense that has conceded only five goals in 11 Premier League matches. Additionally, he has contributed three goal involvements, including a decisive late winner against Newcastle United in September.

Gabriel’s injury raises concerns about his availability for the north London derby against Tottenham Hotspur after the international break.
