Thomas Frank Reflects on Career Moves and New Challenges at TottenhamThomas Frank Reflects on Career Moves and New Challenges at Tottenham

Thomas Frank, who took over as manager of Tottenham Hotspur in June 2025, recounted his remarkable experience interviewing with both Chelsea and Manchester United on the same day last year.

In May 2024, Frank met with Sir Jim Ratcliffe, co-owner of Manchester United, in Ratcliffe’s garage, before proceeding to a hotel in London for discussions with Chelsea. At that time, United chose to retain their then-manager Erik ten Hag, ultimately hiring Ruben Amorim in November 2024, while Chelsea appointed Enzo Maresca.

Having led Brentford to two top-10 finishes in the Premier League, Frank now finds Tottenham in fifth place after 11 matches this season. As he prepares to release a new book, he described that day of interviews as surreal.

“Sitting down for interviews with two of the ten biggest clubs in the world—just two hours apart—is quite unique,” Frank shared with TV 2 Sport. “Although I didn’t get either position, it was still a significant experience. I recall walking through Battersea Park between the interviews and thinking: ‘Thomas Frank from Frederiksvaerk—am I really experiencing this?’

Reflecting on his time at Brentford, Frank stated that his seven years there were extraordinary. “When we look back on our time at Brentford, it may very well be the best period of our football careers due to the unique atmosphere we created together between the players and staff,” he noted.

“Currently, I have a demanding role and face an intense challenge. It requires complete focus, 24/7, 365 days a year, on winning and progressing the team.”

Tottenham is set to face their local rivals, Arsenal, in the north London derby on Sunday, November 23.
