In a recent interview with Denmark’s Tipsbladet, Italian transfer expert Gianluca Di Marzio indicated that Bayer Leverkusen might show interest in acquiring the perpetually dissatisfied Wolfsburg striker Jonas Wind. Given the current dynamics of the Bundesliga, many observers approach Wind’s transfer rumors with skepticism. However, there may be some truth to speculation regarding Wind’s desire to reunite with his former Danish national team coach, Kasper Hjulmand, under whom he previously flourished.

As Wolfsburg grapples with an escalating administrative crisis, the club finds itself unable to dismiss transfer requests. Leverkusen, meanwhile, already possesses a classic center-forward in superb form. Czech international Patrik Schick recently scored twice in the latest league match against Heidenheim, bringing his total to seven goals in 12 appearances across all competitions this season.

The situation becomes more complex with respect to Schick’s backup, Christiane Kofane. The 19-year-old Cameroonian striker continues to resist attempts by his national football association, FECAFOOT, to call him up for international duty. Despite their determination, FECAFOOT made another attempt to recruit Kofane in November. Although he initially accepted the call, he ultimately declined.

With the 2025 African Cup of Nations scheduled to commence in Morocco in just over a month, it is possible that Leverkusen will have to manage without Kofane for an extended period in January. Di Marzio specifically mentioned Leverkusen’s interest in Wind during his discussion with the Danish outlet, suggesting that a transfer between the two German clubs could prove beneficial for all parties involved.
