Recent developments for Sevilla have highlighted the recovery efforts of Alexis Sánchez. Taking advantage of the team’s rest days, the forward shared several videos on social media this past Sunday, showcasing his individual training sessions on the pitch of the sports complex.

Accompanied by a physical therapist, Sánchez not only engaged in sprinting exercises but also practiced ball handling and shooting drills. His primary goal is to be fit for the derby scheduled for November 30.

Sánchez has not trained with the rest of the squad for three weeks due to a right hamstring injury, which the club announced following his discomfort during a match against Mallorca. Despite the setback, he pushed to play against Real Sociedad, which unfortunately exacerbated his condition. Nevertheless, he has remained closely involved with the team, demonstrating his dedication even when not on the field.

Matías Almeyda praised Sánchez, noting, “He is a player who brings joy and arrived with an infectious energy.” This sentiment was evident after the recent match against Osasuna, where the Chilean was the first to motivate and congratulate his teammates for their victory.

To date, Sánchez has participated in seven matches with Sevilla, three of which were as a starter, contributing two goals and one assist. His involvement has been instrumental in securing points against teams like Elche, Alavés, and Barcelona, and he played a crucial role in the winning play against Rayo Vallecano. Almeyda recognizes the importance of Sánchez’s leadership and creativity in the attacking third.

“Despite being one of the shorter players, Alexis wins aerial duels and excels in tight spaces. Although he may not possess the same speed as he did at 22 or 30, his mental sharpness has improved. Football is a game for the astute,” Almeyda explained following the Vallecas match. The club remains optimistic about Sánchez’s return, though they are cautious given that he is nearing 37 years of age and is expected to be a pivotal player for the remainder of the season.
