O Neill and Maloney to Continue Interim Management at CelticO Neill and Maloney to Continue Interim Management at Celtic

Martin O’Neill and Shaun Maloney have recorded three victories and one defeat since assuming interim management of Celtic in October.

The duo will continue to lead the team while the club undertakes the process of appointing a permanent manager. O’Neill, who previously managed Celtic from 2000 to 2005, along with former Celtic player Maloney, has guided the team through four matches following Brendan Rodgers’ departure.

Wilfried Nancy, head coach of Columbus Crew, has been frequently associated with the managerial position; however, the latest updates from the club suggest that O’Neill will remain at the helm for the upcoming Scottish Premiership match against St Mirren in Paisley at 20:00 GMT.

“If there’s not an announcement in the next few days, I am content to continue overseeing the team for the weekend’s game against St Mirren,” O’Neill stated in an interview with Celtic TV.

He emphasized, “Our primary concern is to ensure that the players returning from international duty are fit, especially given the injuries we are currently managing. Ideally, I would like to field a squad similar to the one we had for the Kilmarnock match, but we must adapt to our circumstances and aim to perform at our best. Let’s see what the next few days bring.”

Following Saturday’s fixture, Celtic will face Feyenoord in the Europa League on 27 November, with subsequent league matches against Hibernian on 30 November, Dundee on 3 December, and Hearts on 7 December. They will host Roma in the Europa League on 11 December, ahead of the Premier Sports Cup final against St Mirren on Sunday, 14 December.
