LaLiga Stars Attend Historic NFL Game at Bernabéu Stadium

LaLiga’s prominent figures turned out in force for the NFL matchup between the Washington Commanders and Miami Dolphins, hosted at the iconic Bernabéu Stadium on Sunday. This event was significant in NFL history, as it marked the first regular-season game ever held in Spain.

In preparation for the match, the Bernabéu underwent a remarkable transformation, showcasing the pride of Real Madrid.

Prior to the kickoff, Real Madrid president Florentino Pérez and former coach Zinedine Zidane met with Isabel Díaz Ayuso, the president of the Community of Madrid, and José Luis Martínez Almeida, the mayor of Madrid. The group posed for photographs, engaged in conversation, and exchanged warm gestures. Zidane notably served as the NFL’s guest of honor, performing the coin toss to commence the game.

Current players from Atletico Madrid, including Antoine Griezmann, an avid fan of American sports, and Koke, were also in attendance. Additionally, Madrid defender Antonio Rüdiger was present, along with former Madrid forward Marco Asensio, now playing for Fenerbahçe.

The event saw participation from several legendary figures, including retired Madrid stars Iker Casillas and Guti, who had the chance to reconnect. Notably, Casillas caught up with Mexican legend Memo Ochoa during the match.

The halftime show featured performances by renowned musical artists Daddy Yankee and Bizarrap. This matchup was the seventh and final international game of the NFL season, with plans for the next game to take place in Mexico City next year.

The Dolphins emerged victorious in a thrilling overtime finish, winning 16-13 after a 29-yard field goal by Riley Patterson. Noteworthy was Dolphins star Jack Jones, who celebrated a pivotal interception in a memorable fashion by imitating Cristiano Ronaldo’s iconic “SIU” celebration.
