Kasper Dolberg s Challenging Start at AjaxKasper Dolberg s Challenging Start at Ajax

On the final day of the transfer window, Kasper Dolberg made the switch from RSC Anderlecht to Ajax. However, to say he has yet to make a significant impact in Amsterdam may be an understatement.

“Always Injured” Dolberg Comes at a High Cost for Ajax

Dolberg made his return in a Champions League match against Internazionale, where he came off the bench in a 0-2 defeat. He started in the Eredivisie match against PSV, which ended in a 2-2 draw. Unfortunately, after just 45 minutes, he had to be substituted due to injury, leading him to miss the next eight fixtures for Ajax. He did make a brief appearance in the following match against FC Utrecht, which ended in a 1-2 loss.

“I said: Just wait and see”

It is well-known that outgoing football commissioner Danny Blind was not in favor of Dolberg’s arrival. A while back, he shared his thoughts on Ziggo Sport: “When Brian Brobbey left, Bertrand Traoré was the second striker in the lineup for this season. Then, just four days before the end of the transfer period, the management suddenly announced Traoré would be leaving as well. I told Alex Kroes, ‘Alex, it’s five to twelve.’ On the penultimate day, they came up with Kasper Dolberg, about whom I had already read that he turned down Celtic despite the club offering more than 10 million for him at Anderlecht. I warned, ‘Just wait and see; Ajax will have to pay eleven or twelve million for Dolberg. That’s the top price for a 28-year-old striker with no resale value.’”
