Florian Plettenberg has reported that Eintracht Frankfurt is making moves to potentially sign Werder Bremen centre-back Karim Coulibaly. The 18-year-old has seen his reputation grow as he has become a regular in head coach Horst Steffen’s starting lineup. As of the November international break, Coulibaly has started nine consecutive Bundesliga matches, completing the full 90 minutes in seven of these games.

Coulibaly made headlines by scoring a dramatic late equalizer in a thrilling 3-3 draw against Bayer Leverkusen on matchday two. Since that performance, his club has been vocal in praising the promising talent, which has led to a steady increase in his estimated market value.

The young defender has reportedly attracted interest from top clubs in Italy and Portugal, with EFL Championship club Burnley also rumored to be keen.

Eintracht Frankfurt is currently focused on strengthening their defense, targeting both central defenders and defensive-minded midfielders to address their vulnerabilities. If Coulibaly continues his upward trajectory, there will likely be significant competition for his signature. Plettenberg notes that Eintracht Frankfurt has shown “concrete interest” in the Germany U19 international.
