Fred Grim Temporarily Takes Charge at Ajax Amid Coaching ChangesFred Grim Temporarily Takes Charge at Ajax Amid Coaching Changes

Fred Grim has temporarily assumed responsibilities at Ajax after the dismissal of John Heitinga. It appears that Heitinga may remain in his position for the time being, as the Amsterdam club is prioritizing the search for a new technical director before making further coaching changes. However, several names have been mentioned in discussions, including that of Philippe Clement, though he now seems to be ruled out.

Philippe Clement, a candidate for the Ajax position, is reportedly close to an agreement with Norwich City, according to club commentator Connor Southwell. The Belgian head coach has previously held significant roles at Rangers, Monaco, and Club Brugge. Despite being considered a potential successor to Heitinga at Ajax, it looks increasingly unlikely he will be joining the club.

Ajax initially expressed interest in bringing Erik ten Hag back to the club, but the coach has declined the opportunity for a new contract. This decision comes in light of Alex Kroes’s indication that he will not continue in his role as technical director. Consequently, Ajax has opted to first search for a new technical director before appointing a new head coach. Jordi Cruijff is seen as a leading candidate to succeed Kroes, with Maxwell’s name also being discussed.
