In a recent interview with Denmark’s Tipsbladet, renowned Italian transfer expert Gianluca Di Marzio suggested that Bayer Leverkusen may have an interest in acquiring Wolfsburg striker Jonas Wind, who has frequently expressed dissatisfaction with his current situation. While transfer rumors surrounding Wind are often met with skepticism by those following the Bundesliga, there is some credibility to the speculation that he may want to reunite with former Danish national team coach Kasper Hjulmand, under whom he previously excelled.

As the administrative crisis at Wolfsburg intensifies, the club finds itself in a challenging position, unable to resist outgoing transfer requests. Meanwhile, Leverkusen already boasts a classic center forward in excellent form. Patrik Schick, the Czech international, demonstrated his prowess by scoring twice in the latest league match against Heidenheim, bringing his tally to seven goals in 12 appearances across all competitions this season.

However, the situation becomes more complex when considering Schick’s backup, Christiane Kofane. The 19-year-old Cameroonian striker has resisted overtures from his national football association to represent Cameroon at the international level. Despite initial acceptance of a call-up, Kofane ultimately chose to decline the invitation.

With the 2025 African Cup of Nations set to commence in Morocco in just over a month, it is possible that Leverkusen will have to navigate January without Kofane for an extended period. Di Marzio specifically mentioned the club’s interest in Kofane during his interview, indicating that a deal between the two German clubs could be mutually beneficial.
