Allen Hopkins Jr., Executive Director of Black Players for Change (BPC), emphasized that the recent product launch transcends mere fashion, channeling creative energy into tangible community benefits.

The collaboration between BPC and Vans positions the footwear not only as a cultural emblem but also as a fundraising mechanism. Every pair sold contributes to BPC’s initiatives that focus on youth programming, field construction, and creating opportunities for players from underrepresented communities. This mission-driven messaging is at the heart of the project and has significantly influenced the collaboration’s execution.

“We are thrilled to partner with Vans on this collection, which embodies our mutual commitment to community, sport, and creative expression,” stated Allen Hopkins Jr.

The capsule collection showcases Vans’ classic, minimalist design. Available in two colorways—black with white trim and white with black trim—it maintains a clean aesthetic that highlights the BPC logo, subtly placed on the heel as a recognizable indicator of the partnership. Additionally, the release features custom “Equality” laces and other nuanced details that promote inclusivity and balance, merging the brand’s skateboard heritage with BPC’s visual identity.

This collaboration is structured as a philanthropic endeavor, with proceeds from the Vans x BPC collection dedicated to funding various BPC programs. The launch will follow a pre-order model, starting with a 48-hour presale for BPC partners, friends, and family on November 18 at 10 a.m. ET, before becoming available to the general public on Giving Tuesday, December 2 at 10 a.m. ET. Purchases made will bolster BPC’s outreach efforts.

Now in its sixth season, BPC has played a pivotal role in shaping how Major League Soccer (MLS) addresses racism and educates players about discrimination.
