Honduras Misses World Cup Qualification Amidst Player ChallengesHonduras Misses World Cup Qualification Amidst Player Challenges

omidbasir- Etta Eyong’s unfortunate exit from the final playoff with the Cameroon national team, following a last-minute loss to the Democratic Republic of the Congo, set a somber tone. Yesterday, another player from the Levante squad, Kervin Arriaga, found himself in a similar predicament, also missing out on a World Cup opportunity.

Kervin Arriaga and the Honduran national team will not participate in next summer’s tournament after drawing against Costa Rica yesterday, which left them in second place in the qualification standings.

Despite finishing in a position that could have led to a final playoff spot, the team, managed by Reinaldo Rueda, was eliminated due to goal difference, with Jamaica and Suriname qualifying as the better second-place teams.

During this international window, the Levante midfielder played a total of 163 minutes, starting in both matches. He participated for 73 minutes in the game against Nicaragua, where the team lost 0-2, and played the entire match against Costa Rica yesterday.

The tight schedules of both Arriaga and Mathew Ryan, who played for their respective national teams yesterday, necessitated changes in the training routine set by Levante’s coach, Julián Calero, ahead of the upcoming derby match against Valencia on Friday.

Frustrated by the scheduling of the Turia city derby, Calero moved the team’s final training session from Thursday morning to the afternoon, ensuring that both international players could participate in the session at the Ciutat de Valencia, as they are expected to arrive in Manises early tomorrow afternoon.
