Ronaldinho s Legacy Celebrated with Barcelona s New KitRonaldinho s Legacy Celebrated with Barcelona s New Kit

In November 2005, Ronaldinho showcased an extraordinary performance against Barcelona’s long-standing rivals, Real Madrid, scoring two remarkable goals. The second goal was particularly sensational as he elegantly maneuvered past two defenders before deftly slotting the ball past Real Madrid goalkeeper Iker Casillas.

This display was so captivating that a segment of Los Blancos’ supporters momentarily set aside their intense rivalry to applaud the Brazilian star. Such a rare act, previously reserved for the legendary Diego Maradona as a visiting player, underscored Ronaldinho’s brilliance. He later revealed that he was so immersed in the celebration that he was unaware of the applause at the time, only learning of it in the locker room afterward. This moment has become an enduring symbol of Ronaldinho’s illustrious career, prompting Barcelona to launch a new kit in celebration of this occasion.

In an official statement on their website, Barcelona detailed the new kit’s design: “The Barca stripes are vertical yet seemingly unstructured, a deliberate choice reflecting the trajectory of the ball leading to each of the three goals scored that night—one by Samuel Eto’o and the subsequent two by Ronaldinho. Inside the collar, three circles denote the minutes during which these goals were scored: the 14th, 58th, and 77th. Additionally, the design is completed with the Catalan flag on the outside, and the shorts feature a maroon color with a blue stripe along each leg.”

However, the jerseys come at a premium price, ranging between £125 and £205 for adult sizes.

To promote the kit’s launch, an announcement video celebrating the “fusion of football, sport, and fashion” has been released across the club’s social media platforms. The video features players including Marcus Rashford, Rooney Bardghji, Alejandro Balde, Marc Bernal, Alexia Putellas, Aitana Bonmati, and Ona Batlle, who explore the concept of memorable goals portrayed as masterpieces in an artist’s studio. A recent Clasico is presented as a testament to the idea that “Football is art.” Throughout the video, Bardghji interacts with a grass-textured canvas, Bernal admires a lit “Mes que un Club” sign, and Rashford reflects on a replica of Ronaldinho’s iconic boots from that memorable night, which also includes a homage to the applause he received.

Life has been favorable for Rashford since his arrival at Barcelona on a season-long loan from Manchester United for the 2025-26 season. Under manager Hansi Flick, he has seen a resurgence in his career, regularly starting on the left wing and occasionally taking on the role of a center forward. Initially, there were concerns about his performances, but his recent form has established him as a crucial attacking player, contributing vital goals and assists. Rashford has seamlessly integrated into Flick’s tactical system and has expressed a desire to make his move to the Catalan club permanent.

When asked if he wished to join Barcelona outright in 2026, he responded enthusiastically: “Oh yeah, for sure. I’m enjoying this football club, and I think for anyone who loves football, Barcelona is one of the key clubs in the history of the game. For a player, it is an honor. My main focus is to win football matches; this is why I joined this club, and it is what the club demands.”
