Philippe Clement Appointed as Norwich City Manager, No Move to Ajax

Philippe Clement has officially been appointed as the new manager of Norwich City. Previously, rumors had circulated in Belgium suggesting that he was a candidate for the Ajax position; however, that collaboration will not materialize.

Clement’s assistant, Stephan Van der Heyden, has expressed satisfaction that Clement did not move to Amsterdam.

“I have no idea why it didn’t turn out to be Ajax. Philippe did discuss it, but I’m unsure of how concrete those discussions were,” Van der Heyden stated in an interview with Sporza. He also conveyed his approval of the choice not to pursue the Ajax opportunity, adding, “I believe it is not the right time to go to Ajax. There is too much uncertainty there, especially within the board.”
