omidbasir- Athletic Club aims to leverage its strong social influence to advocate for children’s rights. In recognition of the annual observance on November 20, all team captains will wear a special armband during the upcoming match. The slogan accompanying the ikurriña and the Athletic emblem will read, “We defend what matters, childhood at play.”

World Children’s Day and the Convention on the Rights of the Child were established in 1989 by the United Nations General Assembly. Since then, various global organizations have utilized this day to engage in advocacy and social defense initiatives. Athletic Club seeks to contribute to these efforts by delivering a clear message throughout the weekend.

The club emphasizes that “this day invites reflection on the rights, protection, and well-being of young people. The Club will promote a symbolic and collective initiative. Defending childhood means defending our fundamental values: the right to play, to be heard, and to belong.” Athletic Club has also released a video featuring players from both the youth academy and first teams, underscoring that “when childhood is at stake, we all play together.”
