Florentino Pérez, the president of Real Madrid, has elaborated on the club’s ambitious ‘Infinite Bernabéu’ virtual reality initiative. He emphasized that the collaboration with Apple will effectively allow the stadium to open its doors to fans across the globe.

In preparation for this innovative project, over 30 specialized cameras captured footage during Real Madrid’s recent 1-0 victory against Juventus in the UEFA Champions League. This footage is set to be showcased in a documentary for Apple’s Vision Pro VR headset, scheduled for release next year.

Additionally, the NFL hosted its inaugural regular-season game in Spain at the Bernabéu on Sunday, where the Miami Dolphins triumphed over the Washington Commanders with a score of 16-13, attracting an audience of 78,610 fans.

Pérez, who first introduced the concept of the ‘Infinite Bernabéu’ during a speech at the club’s annual general meeting in 2024, welcomed a delegation from Apple at the stadium on Wednesday. In an interview with GQ, he expressed his long-standing aspiration for the project: “My aim has been to allow every fan to experience the thrill of the Bernabéu as if they were physically present in the stadium. I refer to it as the Infinite Bernabéu, a platform where anyone can enjoy a live match from home, with an unprecedented sense of presence and emotion.”

The additional cameras were strategically positioned throughout the stadium, including in the tunnel, pitchside, press box, and press conference room, during the Juventus game on October 22, serving as a test run for the new technology.

Pérez described the project as an opportunity to eliminate barriers, stating, “It will be like opening the stadium doors to the entire planet, without limits, without barriers, all while maintaining a level of technological quality that will redefine the sports industry.”

While acknowledging the project’s potential economic benefits, Pérez clarified that financial gain was not the primary focus. “Of course, the economic impact is significant, but it should not be our primary short-term goal. What truly matters is providing a billion Real Madrid fans around the world with the experience they desire.”
