According to reports from Kicker, Heidenheim is considering a winter loan move for Stuttgart defender Leonidas Stergiou as part of their efforts to enhance their squad.

The Swiss international has faced difficulties this season, having sustained an injury towards the end of the last campaign, which led to him losing his position in the starting lineup as both a right-back and a center-back.

At 23 years old, Stergiou has only featured for Stuttgart’s reserve team in the 3. Liga and has yet to make an appearance for the senior squad, making it crucial for him to secure more playing time.

With relegation looming, Heidenheim is reportedly eyeing Stergiou for a winter loan, although they have not yet initiated formal discussions.

Currently sitting at the bottom of the Bundesliga standings, Heidenheim suffered a heavy 6-0 defeat to Bayer Leverkusen just before the international break.

Their prospects appear grim, as they narrowly avoided relegation last season, needing a last-minute goal in the playoff against 2. Bundesliga side Elversberg to remain in the league.
