If you find yourself questioning whether you’ve stumbled upon this season’s Barcelona home kit and feel the need to consult your optician, rest assured that you are, in fact, looking at the club’s newly released fourth alternate jersey.

Launched under the tagline “Football is Art,” this new shirt retains many traditional elements of the typical Barça home kit. However, the blaugrana stripes have been artistically reimagined as a tribute to a memorable match that occurred 20 years ago, now celebrated as one of the most remarkable team performances in modern football.

This match refers to the historic 3-0 victory over Real Madrid in the Clásico, which took place at the Bernabéu on November 19, 2005. During this game, the Catalans delivered a stunning performance, reinforcing their position at the top of LaLiga.

Although they did not dominate possession that evening, Frank Rijkaard’s illustrious squad, featuring a young Lionel Messi, captivated the home crowd with an exhilarating display of attacking football. Ronaldinho, in particular, solidified his legacy as one of the club’s greatest players during this match.

Samuel Eto’o opened the scoring, followed by a breathtaking brace from Ronaldinho, whose second goal earned him a standing ovation from the rival home crowd—a rare acknowledgment for a Barça player at the Bernabéu.

The design of the new Barça fourth kit showcases jagged stripes that reflect the intricate movements made by Eto’o and Ronaldinho as they navigated through the Madrid defense en route to their goals that night. Additionally, the collar features the minutes of the three goals scored—14th, 58th, and 77th—etched within.

Eto’o concluded the season as the club’s leading scorer, just ahead of Ronaldinho across all competitions, although it was the Brazilian superstar who claimed the prestigious Ballon d’Or shortly after receiving his ovation at the Bernabéu.

Following this iconic Clásico win, Barcelona finished the LaLiga season a remarkable 12 points ahead of Madrid, also clinching the UEFA Champions League title against Arsenal in Paris.
