Eberechi Eze Shines in Historic Hat Trick Against TottenhamEberechi Eze Shines in Historic Hat Trick Against Tottenham

Mikel Arteta commended the significant impact that Eberechi Eze has brought to Arsenal, particularly after the player opted against a transfer to Tottenham and subsequently scored a hat-trick against them.

On Sunday, Eze’s performance followed Leandro Trossard’s opening goal in the 36th minute, marking the first hat-trick in a north London derby in 47 years, with Richarlison’s exquisite long-range strike being Tottenham’s sole response.

Eze had previously chosen not to join Tottenham after departing Crystal Palace in the summer. Following his hat-trick, Arteta remarked, “Things happen for a reason. After returning from international duty with England, Eze had two days off. On the first day, he was eager to train, seek improvement, and engage in additional practice, asking me numerous questions.

“When a player possesses such talent and demonstrates that level of desire, remarkable outcomes are inevitable. He truly deserves this success. I am thrilled for him because since his arrival, he has added a unique dynamic to our team.

“It’s a joy; he brings an aura that this team needed. I hope this achievement boosts both his confidence and that of the team, illustrating that he has the ability to win us matches at any moment. It is essential for him to realize and fulfill that potential.”

Arteta also minimized the significance of Arsenal’s six-point lead at the top of the Premier League following their decisive victory over Tottenham. With both Manchester City and reigning champions Liverpool suffering defeats over the weekend, Arsenal seized the opportunity to extend their lead over Chelsea. When questioned about the gap, Arteta stated, “In this league? Not much.

“We are performing exceptionally well and have shown great consistency. The difference in results, regardless of whether teams win or lose, is often marginal. We understand that and are in need of our key players to return promptly. It’s great to have Noni [Madueke] back on the pitch, but we are still missing several important players, and we will require all our resources.”

After conceding a 94th-minute equalizer in a 2-2 draw against Sunderland just before the international break, Arsenal rebounded strongly. Arteta commented, “Against Sunderland, we dropped two points in the final moments, which left us with a bitter taste as we headed into the international break after ten consecutive wins.

“We aimed to regain our momentum, and today’s performance in the north London derby is an encouraging start.”
