Estevao Rising Star Shines in Chelsea s First TeamEstevao Rising Star Shines in Chelsea s First Team

Estevao has quickly established himself as a valuable member of Maresca’s first-team squad, regularly participating in matches for Chelsea at just 18 years old. In his debut season at Stamford Bridge, he has played in 16 games across all competitions, scoring four goals and providing one assist.

Last month, Maresca expressed his admiration for the young winger, stating, “It’s exciting to see him. With young players, there’s often a concern; they can have one good game and think they’ve already reached the peak. Estevao, however, plays well but remains polite and humble, eager to learn. His family is also doing a commendable job supporting him, and we are delighted not only with his performance but also with his character. He is a great young man. While he needs a bit more time to adjust to the Premier League, I view him primarily as a winger who will eventually excel in more central positions on the pitch. Personally, I believe he is a fantastic and unique player, but we must ensure he stays grounded. He shouldn’t think too highly of himself after a few good games.”

Ahead of Chelsea’s upcoming Champions League match against Spanish champions Barcelona, Maresca commented, “Estevao is already competing at a high level, even starting for Brazil. He is very young and has plenty of areas for improvement, but we are very pleased with his progress. For me, he is in the same category as other rising stars like Pedri and Lamine Yamal; players who bring beauty to the sport. We are grateful to have Estevao with us and are confident he will achieve great things.”

Maresca further noted, “He will undoubtedly become an essential player for this club. The key for Estevao is to enjoy the game and focus on his own development rather than comparing himself to others. By striving to improve daily, he is sure to become a top player for our team.”

Earlier this month, ahead of Brazil’s friendly match against Tunisia, North African head coach Sami Trabelsi praised Estevao, describing him as “a new football genius in the making. He is excelling at a young age and is expected to be among the elite players globally in the coming years. If he continues to perform well or wins titles with his club or national team, he could even contend for the Ballon d’Or. His playstyle is filled with creativity and technique, and such talent is rare on the world stage.”

Estevao is indeed a remarkable prospect and is receiving excellent guidance at Chelsea under Maresca. He has also shown impressive form for the national team, scoring in both friendlies played by Brazil in November. However, amidst the accolades, it is crucial for the young talent to maintain consistency and stay focused. Estevao will be looking to make a significant impact for Chelsea in their Champions League clash against Barcelona on Tuesday.
