Maria McAneny, a midfielder for Celtic, has been called up to the Scotland women’s national team for the first time. This opportunity comes ahead of friendly matches against Ukraine and China.

The 21-year-old player has previously represented Scotland at the Under-23 level.

Under the guidance of coach Melissa Andreatta, the Scotland team will compete against Ukraine in Jerez, Spain, on Friday at 11:00 GMT, followed by a match against China at the Estadio Municipal de Chapin on December 2 at 18:00 GMT.

In recent fixtures, Scotland suffered a home defeat to Switzerland, although they secured an away victory against Morocco in a previous friendly match.

Looking ahead to 2026, Scotland will face Belgium, Israel, and Luxembourg in World Cup qualifying matches.
