omidbasir- Goals from Assan Ouédraogo and Xaver Schlager propelled RB Leipzig to a 2-0 victory over Werder Bremen, allowing the Red Bulls to reclaim the second position in the Bundesliga.

The match commenced with an intense opening 20 minutes, showcasing the attacking prowess of both teams. Antonio Nusa unleashed a fierce shot that was comfortably caught by Mio Backhaus in the Bremen goal, while David Raum’s free-kick narrowly missed the target, soaring over the crossbar. Senne Lynen also came close with a volley that skimmed past the post following a well-executed setup by Romano Schmid.

As the match progressed, Leipzig began to assert their dominance, effectively limiting Bremen’s possession. The most significant opportunity of the first half occurred after 25 minutes when Ridle Baku found himself with time inside the box but unfortunately dragged his shot wide, missing a golden chance to open the scoring.

Five minutes later, Ouédraogo tested Backhaus with a 25-yard strike towards the bottom left corner, forcing an impressive save. The German defender soon followed up with another attempt, resulting in a series of corners for Leipzig. One notable chance came for Christoph Baumgartner, whose weak shot was directed straight at Backhaus.

Backhaus continued to shine with another exceptional save before halftime. A deflected strike from Baumgartner appeared destined for the far post until the goalkeeper’s acrobatic leap pushed the ball to safety.

The second half saw Bremen enter with renewed energy. Within minutes, Schmid forced another solid save from Péter Gulácsi, and from the subsequent corner, Keke Topp’s header narrowly missed, hitting the side netting. Cameron Puertas then tested Gulácsi again with a powerful shot.

Leipzig regained their composure around the hour mark but found themselves vulnerable on a counter-attack, with Jens Stage breaking through on goal, only to be thwarted by a brilliant tackle from Yan Diomande.

Baumgartner faced another setback as Marco Grüll cleared his shot off the line. However, Leipzig broke the deadlock shortly thereafter when Ouédraogo, with his weaker left foot, unleashed a stunning strike from 20 yards, placing the ball in the top-left corner beyond Backhaus’s reach.

The Red Bulls doubled their lead with just ten minutes remaining, as Baumgartner connected with a header from a corner, dropping the ball to substitute Schlager, who skillfully turned and fired into the bottom corner.

Bremen pressed in search of a goal to spark a comeback, but Leipzig held firm to secure the victory. While the final scoreline indicated a comfortable win for Leipzig, the match was fiercely contested, with Bremen missing several excellent opportunities to score.
