The temporary board, led by Christoph Henssler and Frank Engelhardt, announced Schicker’s decision to remain in Sinsheim on Saturday, with all parties involved providing their comments on the situation.

Schicker’s potential departure seemed imminent due to intensive interest from VfL Wolfsburg, with reports suggesting that a transfer fee agreement between the two clubs was merely a formality just days prior. High-level discussions took place midweek between Wolfsburg and Hoffenheim, but the decisive factor leading to Schicker’s decision to stay was the intervention of interim board co-chairman Christoph Henssler. This marks a significant win for those within the club seeking to reduce the influence of controversial agent Roger Wittmann.

Henssler, who has a background as a former ultra and is seen as connected to the fan base, expressed his contentment in a club statement: “I am delighted that Andreas Schicker wants to continue on the successful path of TSG. He has played a key role in shaping this club.”

Co-chairman Engelhardt added, “We have had trusting and substantive discussions with Dietmar Hopp at the shareholder level. After what have undoubtedly been turbulent weeks, it is important for all of us to return to stability, continuity, and calm.”

Both Wolfsburg and Schicker, along with club patron Dietmar Hopp, released statements regarding the matter. Wolfsburg thanked Hoffenheim for the “constructive discussions” and acknowledged their decision to retain Schicker.

In his own statement, Schicker expressed gratitude for the interest from other clubs: “I am honored by the interest shown by other clubs. It is a nice confirmation of the work we are doing here in Kraichgau. However, the TSG shareholders have provided me with a clear perspective on the continuation of our successful work here.
