Javi Rueda will remain with Celta until at least 2029, having extended his contract by two additional seasons, which was initially set to expire in June 2027.

The Málaga native joined Celta in the 2023-24 season to play for the club’s B team. He made his debut in the Primera División on May 26, 2024, at Balaídos against Valencia, a match that concluded with a 2-2 draw.

Last season, he was loaned to Albacete, where he delivered an impressive performance that paved the way for his inclusion in Celta’s first team this season, reuniting him with Coach Claudio Giráldez, who has complete confidence in his abilities and potential at just 23 years of age.

This season, despite facing a three-week injury setback, Rueda has participated in eleven official matches, scoring one goal and providing three assists.

The club released an official statement celebrating Rueda’s contract extension, highlighting his physical prowess, speed, and ability to reach the byline as attributes that make him a fully modern full-back. These qualities will continue to be at Coach Claudio Giráldez’s disposal, reinforcing Celta’s commitment to a player with significant potential.
