Celtic midfielder Maria McAneny has been selected for the Scotland women’s national team for the first time, set to participate in friendly matches against Ukraine and China.

The 21-year-old player, who has previously represented Scotland at the Under-23 level, is part of Melissa Andreatta’s squad. The team will face Ukraine in Jerez, Spain, on Friday at 11:00 GMT, followed by a match against China at the Estadio Municipal de Chapin on December 2 at 18:00.

Last month, Scotland experienced a home defeat to Switzerland after securing an away victory over Morocco in their previous friendlies.

Looking ahead to 2026, Scotland will compete against Belgium, Israel, and Luxembourg in the World Cup qualifying rounds.

In terms of squad composition, the goalkeepers include Eartha Cumings (Manchester City), Lee Gibson (Glasgow City), and Sandy MacIver (Washington Spirit). The defensive lineup features Georgia Brown (Sporting Club Jacksonville), Jenna Clark (Liverpool), Nicola Docherty (Rangers), Leah Eddie (Rangers), Sophie Howard (Como), Emma Lawton (Celtic), Rachel McLauchlan (Brighton & Hove Albion), and Amy Muir (Glasgow City).

The midfield contingent comprises Erin Cuthbert (Chelsea), Freya Gregory (Newcastle United), Sam Kerr (Liverpool), Kirsty MacLean (Liverpool), Maria McAneny (Celtic), Miri Taylor (Aston Villa), and Caroline Weir (Real Madrid). Finally, the forward positions are filled by Lauren Davidson (Brann), Kirsty Hanson (Aston Villa), Kirsty Howat (Crystal Palace), Mia McAulay (Rangers), Kathleen McGovern (Hibernian), and Martha Thomas (Tottenham Hotspur).
