DFB Sports Court Issues Ruling on Dominik KohrDFB Sports Court Issues Ruling on Dominik Kohr

omidbasir- The DFB Sports Court rendered its anticipated ruling on FSV Mainz 05 midfielder Dominik Kohr late Monday evening. The Bundesliga player, who holds the record for the most ejections in league history, will be suspended for three league matches and fined €15,000 due to his aggressive foul on Hoffenheim’s Max Moerstedt last Friday.

Kohr faced the possibility of a harsher penalty after what was widely regarded as a reckless challenge that warranted a straight red card. A four-match suspension would have effectively concluded Kohr’s participation in league play for the remainder of the 2025 calendar year. However, with the current ruling, he will be eligible to return for Mainz’s final league match against St. Pauli on December 21st.

Although Kohr remains available for head coach Bo Henriksen in Mainz’s upcoming Conference League fixtures, the club’s European performance is not the most pressing issue at hand. Mainz has achieved victories in all three of their Conference League matches thus far.

In contrast, in league play, Henriksen’s squad currently finds itself in the automatic relegation zone, having secured just one win and three draws over the first 11 matchdays.
