Celtic midfielder Maria McAneny has been selected for the Scotland women’s national team for the first time, as they prepare for friendly matches against Ukraine and China.

The 21-year-old, who has previously represented Scotland at the Under-23 level, will join her teammates for these fixtures. The first match will take place against Ukraine in Jerez, Spain, on Friday at 11:00 GMT, followed by a game against China at the Estadio Municipal de Chapin on December 2 at 18:00 GMT.

Last month, the Scotland team faced a home defeat against Switzerland after securing an away victory against Morocco, both of which were friendly matches. Looking ahead, Scotland is set to compete against Belgium, Israel, and Luxembourg in the 2026 World Cup qualifying campaign.
