omidbasir- Assan Ouédraogo and Xaver Schlager propelled RB Leipzig to a 2-0 victory over Werder Bremen, enabling the Red Bulls to reclaim the second position in the Bundesliga standings.

The match commenced with an intense first 20 minutes, showcasing both teams’ attacking vigor. Antonio Nusa unleashed a powerful shot on goal, which was comfortably saved by Mio Backhaus, the Bremen goalkeeper. Meanwhile, David Raum narrowly missed the target with a free-kick that sailed over the crossbar. Senne Lynen also had an opportunity, sending a volley wide after a well-executed setup from Romano Schmid.

Leipzig gradually established dominance, restricting Bremen’s possession significantly. The most promising chance arose after 25 minutes when Ridle Baku found himself in a surprising amount of space on the right side of the box but failed to convert, dragging his shot wide.

A few minutes later, Ouédraogo tested Backhaus with a powerful strike from 25 yards, leading to a good save. Following this, Ouédraogo had another attempt that resulted in consecutive corners for Leipzig, culminating in a chance for Christoph Baumgartner, whose weak effort was easily dealt with by Backhaus.

Before halftime, Backhaus made yet another impressive save, deflecting a strike from Baumgartner that appeared destined for the far post.

After the break, Bremen emerged with renewed energy. Within minutes, Schmid forced a critical save from Péter Gulácsi, and during the ensuing corner, Keke Topp’s header hit the side netting. Cameron Puertas also tested Gulácsi with a powerful shot soon after.

Leipzig regained their composure around the hour mark but were nearly caught off guard by a precise pass that allowed Jens Stage a clear opportunity on goal, which was thwarted by a brilliant tackle from Yan Diomande.

Baumgartner was again denied, this time by Marco Grüll, who made a goal-line clearance. Leipzig finally broke the deadlock when Ouédraogo struck an exceptional left-footed shot from 20 yards, sending the ball into the top-left corner beyond Backhaus’s reach.

The Red Bulls secured their second goal with just ten minutes remaining when Baumgartner won a header from a corner that fell to substitute Schlager, who skillfully turned and fired into the bottom corner.

Despite Bremen’s persistent efforts to find a goal that could spark a comeback, Leipzig maintained their lead and ultimately secured the victory. While the scoreline suggests a comfortable win for Leipzig, the reality is that Bremen had several excellent opportunities that could have tilted the match in their favor.
