omidbasir- Pep Guardiola has publicly acknowledged feelings of “embarrassment and shame” following his interaction with a television cameraman after Manchester City’s defeat to Newcastle United on Saturday.

The incident occurred on the pitch at St James’ Park, where Guardiola appeared to engage in an intense confrontation with the cameraman. In addition, he was seen having animated discussions with referee Samuel Barrott and Newcastle midfielder Bruno Guimarães after City’s 2-1 loss.

During a news conference on Monday, when asked about his comments to the cameraman, Guardiola confirmed that he had apologized for his involvement in the altercation.

“I feel embarrassed, ashamed when I see it,” Guardiola stated. “I don’t like it. I apologized after one second to the cameraman. I am who I am. After 1,000 games I’m not a perfect person; I make huge mistakes. It’s not about that. What is for sure, I defend any team and my club, that’s for sure. The reason why is I want to defend my team and my club.”

Ahead of Bayer Leverkusen’s upcoming visit to Etihad Stadium for a Champions League match on Tuesday, Guardiola also took a subtle jab at the agent of Claudio Echeverri, a young player currently on loan from City to Leverkusen, where he has faced challenges in securing playing time.

City had preferred for Echeverri to join Girona, a club under the City Football Group umbrella, and Guardiola hinted at his dissatisfaction with the player’s current situation in Germany.

“Always, I would love that players play a lot of minutes; the intention is always there,” Guardiola remarked regarding Echeverri’s circumstances. “We have an incredible appreciation for him as a football player. I am sure, pretty sure, his agent will know everything.”

When asked about the possibility of Echeverri returning to City in January, Guardiola responded, “It is a question for his beautiful agent.”
