omidbasir- Goals from Assan Ouédraogo and Xaver Schlager propelled RB Leipzig to a 2-0 victory against Werder Bremen, allowing the Red Bulls to regain second place in the Bundesliga.

The match commenced with an intense first 20 minutes as both teams displayed attacking vigor. Antonio Nusa nearly scored with a powerful strike that landed in the hands of Bremen goalkeeper Mio Backhaus. David Raum also came close, sending a free-kick just over the crossbar, while Senne Lynen’s volley was narrowly off target after a clever setup by Romano Schmid.

Leipzig soon started to dominate the game, effectively reducing Bremen’s possessions. The first significant opportunity arose in the 25th minute when the ball fell to Ridle Baku inside the box. Just returning from international duty, Baku found himself in an open position but missed the target with his shot.

Five minutes later, Ouédraogo attempted a shot from 25 yards, which forced Backhaus to make a splendid save. The newly-capped German international continued to threaten, prompting another save and a series of corners for Leipzig. Christoph Baumgartner had a golden chance, but his tame shot was directed straight at Backhaus.

Before halftime, Backhaus showcased his skills again, leaping to push away a deflected strike from Baumgartner that appeared destined for the far post.

The second half began with Bremen displaying increased energy. Shortly after the restart, Schmid forced another excellent save from Péter Gulácsi, and from the ensuing corner, Keke Topp’s header struck the side netting. Cameron Puertas also tested Gulácsi, who was once again equal to the task.

Leipzig regained their composure around the hour mark but faced a near scare when a defense-splitting pass sent Jens Stage clear on goal, only for a recovering Yan Diomande to make an impressive tackle.

Baumgartner was then denied a goal by fellow Austrian Marco Grüll, who cleared off the line to maintain the score. Leipzig finally broke the deadlock when Ouédraogo delivered a spectacular shot from 20 yards with his weaker left foot, finding the top-left corner beyond Backhaus.

With just 10 minutes remaining, Leipzig doubled their lead. Baumgartner connected with a header from a corner, which fell to substitute Schlager, who skillfully turned his marker and slotted the ball into the bottom corner.

Leipzig effectively maintained their lead as Bremen sought to mount a comeback, creating several opportunities but failing to find the back of the net. While the final score reflected a comfortable win for Leipzig, the match was far more competitive, with Bremen having several chances to alter the outcome.
