FIFA has officially introduced the FIFA Peace Prize, which will be presented during the World Cup draw on December 5 in Washington, D.C. This award is designed to honor exceptional efforts in promoting peace, as announced by the governing body of football on Wednesday.

FIFA President Gianni Infantino emphasized the importance of recognizing those who diligently work to resolve conflicts and foster unity in an increasingly fragmented world. “In a world that is often unsettled and divided, it is crucial to acknowledge the remarkable contributions of individuals who strive for peace and bring people together,” he stated.

Infantino will personally present the award this year, which is set to be given annually on behalf of fans worldwide.

In a related context, U.S. President Donald Trump, who maintains a close rapport with Infantino, was notably overlooked for the Nobel Peace Prize last month, despite advocacy from fellow Republicans and various world leaders. Both Infantino and Trump were scheduled to address an unrelated event in Miami on Wednesday.

Additionally, FIFA has strengthened its ties with Trump by appointing his daughter, Ivanka Trump, to the board of a $100 million educational initiative partially funded by ticket sales from the 2026 World Cup.
