The New England Revolution are preparing to appoint Marko Mitrovic, the head coach of the United States under-20 team, as their new manager, according to a source confirmed to ESPN. While a contract has not yet been signed, indications suggest that the native of Belgrade, Serbia, is set to join the team. Mitrovic, 47, will take over from Caleb Porter, who was dismissed from his position on September 15 after a challenging stretch of results. The Revolution concluded the 2025 season in 11th place in the Eastern Conference, falling 17 points short of the final playoff spot. As manager, Mitrovic will have the opportunity to work with several high-caliber MLS players, including former league MVP Carles Gil and U.S. men’s national team goalkeeper Matt Turner, who is currently on loan. The Athletic was the first to report on Mitrovic’s impending appointment. He recently led the U.S. U20 squad to a quarterfinal finish at the 2025 FIFA U20 World Cup and has overseen various U.S. youth teams at the U19 and U23 levels from 2022 to 2024, including the U23 team that reached the quarterfinals at the 2024 Summer Olympics in Paris. Prior to his role with the U.S. youth teams, Mitrovic was an assistant coach under Veljko Paunovic with several Serbian youth national teams, notably contributing to the squad that won the FIFA U20 World Cup in 2015. He later followed Paunovic to the Chicago Fire and served as an assistant at English club Reading.
