Guardiola Reflects on Post Match Incident and Player Loan SituationGuardiola Reflects on Post Match Incident and Player Loan Situation

omidbasir- Pep Guardiola has publicly acknowledged his feelings of “embarrassment and shame” following a tense exchange with a television cameraman after Manchester City’s defeat against Newcastle United on Saturday.

The incident unfolded on the pitch at St James’ Park, where Guardiola appeared to engage in an agitated confrontation with the cameraman. He was also seen having animated discussions with referee Samuel Barrott and Newcastle midfielder Bruno Guimarães after City’s 2-1 loss.

During a press conference on Monday, when asked about his remarks to the cameraman, Guardiola confirmed that he had apologized for his behavior. “I feel embarrassed, ashamed when I see it,” he stated. “I don’t like it. I apologized immediately to the cameraman. I am who I am. After 1,000 games, I am not a perfect person; I make significant mistakes. It’s not about that. What is certain is that I will always defend my team and my club.”

In a somewhat tense press conference ahead of Bayer Leverkusen’s visit to the Etihad Stadium for a Champions League match on Tuesday, Guardiola also subtly criticized the agent of Argentine player Claudio Echeverri. Echeverri is currently on loan at Leverkusen from City but has faced challenges in securing playing time since his transfer to the Bundesliga.

“Always, I would love for players to have ample playing time; the intention is always there,” Guardiola remarked when discussing Echeverri’s situation. “We hold him in high regard as a football player. I am sure his agent is aware of everything.”

When asked about the possibility of Echeverri returning to City in January, Guardiola humorously replied, “That is a question for his esteemed agent.”
